Popiashvili Gvaberidze Window Project Gallery
Rustaveli ave. 37 Tbilisi

Popiashvili Gvaberidze Window Project is pleased to present first solo exhibition of Berlin based Georgian artist, Magda Gvelesiani. The exhibition is titled “Swimming Pool” and includes series of eighteen small sized paintings. These works are done in an unusual material for painting – plasticine. Plasticine traditionally is used for making reliefs and small sculptures. According to the artist, her use plasticine better conveys the concept of the swimming pool – water trapped in an architectural form. Flexibility and transformation are the qualities of placticine that perfectly illustrates the theme of these works.

Magda Gvelesiani graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. From 2013 she lives and works in Berlin.
